Per an announcement from the Bayern Munich website, the club has agreed to terms with defensive prospect Josip Stanisic on a contract extension that will keep him at Säbener Straße through the 2022/2023 season:

FC Bayern have handed defender Josip Stanisic a professional contract until 2023. The 21-year-old Munich native joined the club’s academy in 2017.Stanisic joined the Bayern academy in January 2017 from SC Fürstenfeldbruck and has been a regular for the reserves in the third division over the last two years. He’s so far made 42 appearances for the club’s second string, as well as playing one game for the senior team.

Sporting director Hasan “Brazzo” Salihamidzic is supporting Stanisic to make a run at a first-team roster spot.

“Josip is a great guy,” said Salihamidzic. “We back him to take this important step into the first team as well as he’s done so far as the campus.”

Stanisic is living his dream — literally — with this contract extension.

“My biggest dream is to play for FC Bayern. As a kid, I used to regularly watch the team training at Säbener Straße, and now I’ll be on that pitch training myself. I’m over the moon to have signed my first professional contract and would like to thank the club’s officials for their trust,” said Stanisic.
