Former Reading FC full-back Omar Richards probably was looking forward to a “soft landing” to kick off the season with Bayern Munich.
With Alphonso Davies and Lucas Hernandez on the roster, there appeared to be no reason why the youngster would be thrust on the pitch quickly.
Injuries to both Davies and Hernandez, however, have changed that outlook and new Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann think Richards will be up to the task in filling the void.
“Omar is an extremely smart young man who is very eager to learn and has already integrated well. He can already speak some German which is impressive,” Nagelsmann told kicker (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia). “It’s extremely important that new players are willing to learn.”
As for how Nagelsmann thinks Richards has performed so far in camp, the new boss seems happy with his new charge.
“I’m very satisfied with him so far. He’s training well, he has a good technique, is good with the ball and can dribble,” Nagelsmann said.
