Former Bayern Munich manager and long-time Bavarians’ defender David Alaba have reunited at Real Madrid and the coach is expecting big things from the Austrian.
“Alaba is a complete player, with a lot of quality and tactically intelligent in defense,” Ancelotti told Real Madrid TV (as captured by The World Game). “I put him at center-back in my last games at Bayern Munich, but sometimes he plays in midfield for Austria and can also play on the left. He is a complete player who is going to do very well this season.”
It is unclear at this point exactly where Alaba will line-up for Los Blancos, but Ancelotti is assuredly seeking to find a way to get Alaba on the pitch. With Sergio Ramos off to Paris Saint-Germain and Raphaël Varane strongly linked to Manchester United, Alaba could find himself as a primary option at center-back once more.
With the ability to aptly perform at center-back, left-back, and as a defensive midfielder, Alaba should offer Ancelotti a great deal of flexibility.
