Bayern Munich center-back Dayot Upamecano sought out the Bavarians just as much the club pursued him — and now the 22-year-old wants to give his all to the team that believed he is ready for primetime.

“I’m happy to be here and I’ve already had some very good moments with the team. This is a big step for me. It’s a big club, I want to fight and give everything for this club,” said Upamecano (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia). “I’ve known Julian for a while now. He’s a very good coach. He helps both young and experienced players. He loves video analysis. He’s already a great coach and I’m happy to work with him again.”

Upamecano also credited Ralf Rangnick for helping push him to this point in his career.

“Of course I still have contact with him. He’s an important coach for me. I talk to him a lot. He helped me a lot. He’s a coach to whom I owe a lot. I’m grateful for everything he did for me,” Upamecano said.
