Bayern Munich board member Uli Hoeneß was not a fan of how Hansi Flick made specific demands regarding transfers — and was even less happy when Flick went public with it.
Hoeneß is confident that new boss Julian Nagelsmann will keep his focus on coaching and not on the transfer market.
“I talked to Julian Nagelsmann. Everyone thinks that he wants to sign every player. But he understands the situation. I liked that very much,” said Hoeneß to Sport1.
In reaching an agreement with one of Germany’s top, young coaches Hoeneß is happy that it looks like Bayern Munich will have a manager in place for years to come.
“We were planning to do that with Hansi Flick, but then Joachim Löw decided to step down,” Hoeneß said. “We’re very lucky that Julian Nagelsmann has always committed himself to us. That is nice for the fans.”
For Nagelsmann, the new manager seems to have the full backing of the front office and the board, which should make things go smoothly during this initial season.
