Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann has heard the rumors that he would like to one day transition to coaching the German national team, but his focus — at the moment — is solely on helping the Bavarians win as many trophies as possible.
“Now (Gerrmany) has a new (manager). Hansi (Flick) will give everything and win all the titles that can be won,” Nagelsmann told Bild. “It would be very bizarre if, after a few days in office at Bavaria, I talked about wanting to be a national coach. I am currently a full club coach and very happy about it.”
Flick has long desired to take the national team post with the DFB and will be looking to thrust Germany into contention for the 2022 World Cup. As for Nagelsmann, there is no reason to believe the young coach will be distracted from the task at-hand.
With injuries already spiking and many players still missing from his training camp, Nagelsmann will have plenty to keep him busy this summer — and moving forward. It was good, however, for Nagelsmann to address those rumors head-on. The manager has shown no reluctance to avoid difficult subjects with the media.
