Bayern Munich II picked up a surprising 1-0 win over newly-promoted Bundesliga side Greuther Fürth. The young Bavarians were led by goalscorer (and Hasan Salihamidzic nephew) Lucas Copado.
The 17 year old Copado has been a promising scorer for all of the Bayern youth teams that he’s played. In 17 appearances with Bayern’s U-17 side over the last two seasons (Both the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons were cut short due to COVID.), Copado scored 9 goals. This season, he’ll very likely bounce back and forth between Bayern II and the U-19 team in order to guarantee him minutes to continue his development.

Bayern XI: Schenk – Kehl, Arrey-Mbi (73. Marusic), Feldhahn (60. Janitzek), Brückner – Rhein (60. Metu), Mosandl (60. Wenig), Kern (60. Aydin), Vidovic (60. Copado) – Batista-Meier (73. Kabadayi), Motika (73. Mamedova)
Former Bayern players Timothy Tillman and Julian Green made appearances for Fürth in this one. After their impressive 2.Bundesliga campaign to earn promotion last season, the two will get to flex their stuff in the top flight this year.
As for the preseason for Bayern II, this match wraps up things. The next time Bayern II take the field it will be in their first Regionalliga Bayern game of the season. A trip to Augsburg II for the season opener is in the cards.
