Chris Richards will get the opportunity to impress new Bayern Munich head coach Julian Nagelsmann this summer, according to a new report form Kicker (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). A decision on his future is “likely to be decided in August”.
The report says that Richards could be an alternative in a back three played by Nagelsmann, but Hoffenheim are still interested in bringing him back to the club on loan or a full transfer.
Richards was a standout performer during his six-month loan with Hoffenheim this season, and it’s easy to see why Nagelsmann wants to give him a run out in training before deciding what the club will do with him.

It must be remembered, that a lot of Bayern’s summer will hinge on what Niklas Süle will do. He only has one more year remaining on his contract with the club, and he hasn’t agreed to a new contract with the club to date. If Süle continues to hold out, Bayern will work to sell him before the transfer window ends in August. They don’t want to let another player leave on a free after David Alaba this year.
If Süle does indeed leave Munich this summer, keeping Richards will be a priority.
