In an interview with kicker (as captured by Twitter account, @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich’s sporting director, Hasan “Brazzo” Salihamidžić spoke about a variety of topics. In the interview he touched on coaches — past and present, the future of Bayern’s veterans, and how some of the youngsters will do under incoming coach, Julian Nagelsmann.

When asked about the departing Hansi Flick, Brazzo said, “Hansi Flick can look back to a very successful time at Bayern. I wish him all the best at the DFB. National team coach is a very interesting task for him, the team can look forward to him. We’ll still have contact because he’ll surely call up our players.” Brazzo was also asked about legendary Bayern assistant, Herman Gerland: “Hermann said that he wanted to leave. The same goes for Danny Röhl. I offered Hermann to stay at the club in another role of his choice. He has big merits and will always remain part of the Bayern family.” When asked about the incoming trainer, Julian Nagelsmann, Brazzo offers his support, “I will be there for him. Julian knows that I will be supporting him and I’m always available. Otherwise, he’s the coach and he makes the decisions on the pitch that he thinks are right.”

After answering questions about the coaching staff, the interview turned towards the players. First Brazzo was asked the veterans and their futures with the club. When asked about Lewandowski’s future, Brazzo said, “We know what we have in Lewy, but he also knows what he has at FC Bayern. He was eyeing the Champions League and The best footballer award. He got both at FC Bayern. Lewy belongs to FC Bayern, just like Manuel Neuer and Thomas Müller.” The interviewer then bluntly asked, if Brazzo expected Lewandowski, Neuer, and Müller to be in Munich beyond 2023. Brazzo responded, “That’s still far away. One thing after another. But I hope they’ll still play at Bayern for a long time.”

Along with the veteran core, Bayern also has numerous young prospects. Brazzo was asked about them as well, and gave them high praise — specifically about Tanguy Nianzou and Marc Roca. About Nianzou, Brazzo hopes that we can see more of him soon, “Tanguy was injured for pretty much all year. I still think he can bring his qualities into play. For me he’s one of the best defensive talents in Europe. If he stays fit, he’ll be important for the team.” Finally, when asked about Roca playing in a new system, Brazzo said, “Marc has great abilities. Julian Nagelsmann will give him the chance to show them.”
