12th ranked Die Mannshaft held their final dress up before the 138th-ranked Latvia National Team. Here are four observations.

Neuer hits 100

Manuel Neuer became just the 17th German-national to reach 100 caps, reaching milestones that his Bayern Munich teammate Thomas Müller made earlier. What makes Neuer special, however, is that he becomes the first ever German goalkeeper to reach that special 100 caps.

It’s well deserving as Neuer is arguably the greatest German torwart of all time, no offense Kahn. Congrats, Neuer. Can think of no one else who deserves it more than you.

Fast and furious start for Die Mannshaft

Fast and Furious. 5 goals in the first half including 3 goals in 8 minutes from Gosens, Gündogan, and Müller, his first since 2018. Germany looked very reminiscent of Bayern at it’s best and its no wonder given that a core of Germany is from Bayern or coached by Pep.

Dominating midfield and a lethal attack gave way to an exciting match for Germany. They look healthy and angry and other teams in the EURO’s should be on their watch.

Lativa, take a bow

A healthy Germany is lethal

This Germany is a fun Germany. Lethal in attack and clinical with the ball in front of the goal. Yes, it’s Latvia. But that doesnt matter. What does matter is for one, Germany did not play to the level of the opposition they so frequently do. Instead, they played hungry and with a chip on their shoulder. It almost seems as if Germany’s squad is aiming to avenge their play in the 2018 World Cup and give France a run for their money. I, for one, look surprised at how they’re playing and maintain some small level of optimism they can survive the group stage.

Gosens, Hummels, Müller and Gnabry look exceptionally well and appear to be set to hold starting roles. Sané, Musiala, Werner and Süle were sitting on the bench and would appear to be extremely quality bench options. Gnabry and Müller are in peak form. Rüdiger appears to be a new man after him time with Tuchel. If Germany can play like this, anything can happen.

Holy Hummels, Mats.
