Former Bayern Munich midfielder Philippe Coutinho has not had much luck of late.
Battling his way back from an injury, Coutinho’s name has been bandied about in the transfer market, but has no clear vision on what the future holds for him.
With FC Barcelona allegedly looking to unload Coutinho to help ease some financial constraints, Coutinho has been linked to Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Everton, and several other clubs over the last two months. The Bayern Munich rumors were swiftly dismissed, but recently Arsenal has emerged as a contender for Coutinho.
If it is up to former Arsenal defender Nigel Winterburn, however, the Gunners would not engage in a deal for the Brazilian.
“I wouldn’t go down that line, we’ve got a lot of young talent coming through,” Winterburn told the betting website FreeSuperTips. “It’s been touted around so much I don’t believe it’ll happen. Coutinho was very good at Liverpool, but since then I’ve not been impressed and I’m not convinced by it.”
