Former Bayern Munich captain Stefan Effenberg thinks the 2021/2022 squad in Bavaria is shaping up to be “weaker than last season.”
In his column for t-online, Effenberg expressed his concern about how the roster looks and how hard it will be for Bayern Munich to replace players like David Alaba, Jerome Boateng, and Javi Martinez
In order to replace two world-class defenders and an internationally renowned defensive player like Martínez one-for-one and at the same time — and become more stable, further reinforcements are needed. As of today, the squad is weaker than last season.
As of now, Effenberg does not think the current roster at Bayern Munich is deep enough to win the league for a 10th consecutive time:
Will Bayern win the tenth championship title in a row in the coming season? I don’t think so.
While Effenberg’s assessment might appear to be a little more gloomy than most would like, he does have a point when it comes to the squad’s depth.
