Florian Neuhaus could look abroad instead of a Bayern Munich move

A move to Bayern Munich might not be a sure thing for Florian Neuhaus.

Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Florian Neuhaus has been heavily linked to a transfer to Bayern Munich in the summer of 2022, but the 24-year-old has went to great lengths of late to distance himself from those rumors.

In fact, Neuhaus has made a verbal commitment to Die Fohlen and indicated that another club will have to convince him to move. In speaking to Abendzeitung reporter Maximilian Koch, Neuhaus said his future is not committed to “one club” — a direct reference to the Bayern Munich rumors:

Florian #Neuhaus about a possible switch to #FCBayern : “I said that I felt comfortable in Gladbach. A new club has to surpass this feeling first. I am not committed to one club. The overall package has to be right. I am open to everything.” #DFBTeam

Neuhaus went a little further — as captured by Sport1’s Florian Plettenberg:

I can also imagine moving abroad. I don’t have to go to #FCBayern.

For Neuhaus, now is the time to make these statements as he is coming off of an excellent season in the Bundesliga — and a strong performance in Germany’s 1-1 draw with Denmark.

Is this a smokescreen or is the native Bavarian really looking at all his options?

Regardless, both Liverpool and Real Madrid have been linked to Neuhaus at different points in the last year.
