BFW’s Euro 2020 Round of 16 Predictions: What we got wrong, what we got right

None of the BFW staff got more than half of their predictions right! Ouch.

In the spirit of fun, I thought it would be interesting to go back at recap BFW’s predictions for the Euro 2020 Round of 16. With some crazy upsets, it wasn’t easy to predict! Some did worse than others *cough cough* — me.

Jack Laushway - 2/8

I’ll admit it! I got a lot wrong. Only two of my predictions came true, both on the first day of the round. I predicted both Denmark and Italy to advance, and once that day was over, so were my successful predictions. Let’s get 'em next time....

Tom Adams - 3/8

Tom made the same picks for Denmark and Italy to advance. Tom, like everyone else, was blindsided by Switzerland and the Czech Republic. Tom’s third correct pick came in his faith that football is coming home. All of us predicted Sweden to beat Ukraine, a prediction that we all got wrong.

Samrin - 4/8

Samrin picked Denmark as well but predicted that they would score three times, much closer to the 4-0 victory than the rest of us predicted. Samrin earned another correct pick with Italy’s victory over Austria. Samrin was the only one to pick Spain to advance to the quarter-finals. Samrin was also wise enough to foresee a German defeat in London.

Chuck Smith - 4/8

Like all other BFW staff who made their picks public, Chuck picked Denmark and Italy to advance. However, Chuck was the only one brave enough to back Schick and the Czech Republic, who came through on his bold prediction. Chuck was also the only one to correctly predict that Belgium would advance. He knew he should’ve known better, but picked Germany anyways.

None of us got any score line perfect (winning team and exact score line), but we will be sure to try once again for the next round! See you in the quarterfinals.
