Liverpool is interested in signing Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman

It’s clear that Coman’s agent and his father really want him to move to the Premier League, while Bayern wants him to stay.

In the latest twist of the tale regarding Kingsley Coman’s future at Bayern Munich, Sport1’s Florian Plettenberg has reported that Liverpool is interested in signing the French winger. He’s reported that representatives from Liverpool have already made contact with Coman’s camp, but that it is not Liverpool’s top priority at the moment. Julian Nagelsmann and Bayern still want him to extend his contract, which is currently set to expire in June 2023.

It’s even been reported that Liverpool has already lodged a €35m bid for Coman, which Bayern has rejected. They would like to try and get at least €50m for him if they were, in fact, to sell him this summer. As has been the case several times before with players who have Pini Zahavi as an agent, Coman’s camp is really pressing for a move abroad. Zahavi, Coman’s father, and family friend Benoît Menye are adamant on trying to get Coman to England to play in the Premier League.

Nagelsmann has already made a point of saying he’s planning on having Coman in the squad for this upcoming season, though when some of his specific plans were leaked, the French international was not in his preferred starting lineup. While he might’ve already been planning to try and press for a move abroad prior to Nagelsmann’s plans getting leaked, that certainly didn’t incentivze him staying in Munich if he wants to be a consistent starter.

Of course, at Liverpool, Coman would have to compete with Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, and Diogo Jota for minutes, so it’s hard to see how Klopp would supplant either of those three with Coman. He would still be a valuable addition to an explosive Liverpool attacking line, but it’s difficult to see Jurgen Klopp being able to guarantee him consistent minutes, especially for a price tag of €50m.

This would also have to do with where Liverpool winds up standing with Borussia Monchengladbach’s Florian Neuhaus. It’s been reported that he’s a serious topic of interest for Liverpool, who is looking for a Georginio Wijnaldum replacement in the center of midfield. Liverpool is concretely interested in him, but Neuhaus and his camp have made it clear that serious discussions will not take place until after this summer’s Euros conclude for Germany.
