Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane has struggled mightily during this international break for Germany and Serge Gnabry is calling for fans to support his teammate.
“We never need whistles,” said Gnabry of jeers directed at Sane in the Hungary match (as captured by Abendzeitung). “I can’t understand when whistles are blown. It would be nicer if there was support.”
Gnabry did not hide from the fact that Sane was struggling, but the Bayern Munich forward said that the former Manchester City man’s “talent and playing strength will always prevail.”
Gnabry also said that Sane has ramped up his intensity in training and is determined to get back on the right track. Specifically, Gnabry said that Sane “stepping on the gas in training” and that he saw a lot of good things from Sane against Hungary from which he can build on.
Whatever the case, Sane will likely find himself back on the bench against England as Thomas Müller should be ready to start and Kai Havertz and Gnabry, himself, appear to be locks to man the frontline.
