BPW’s Fan Mid-Table Team of the Season

Hello and welcome to part 2 of our Fan Team of the Season lists. After our lists three weeks ago, it’s time to see who our fans picked. We’re aware that there may be bias (we are a Bayern Munich blog after all), but that’s why we do these three different lists.

Here, we will show you who you picked, compare it to who we picked and I’ll give my thoughts on your picks.

In fairness, this was almost our pick if it weren’t for our writers all picking different goaltenders in our staff picks.

Fan Pick: Stefan Lainer - Mönchengladbach

Makes sense enough, it was a pretty easy choice for us too.

Centerbacks

Staff picks: Mattias Ginter and Nico Elvedi - Mönchengladbach
Fan Picks: Mattias Ginter and Nico Elvedi - Mönchengladbach

Considering the two combine for 14 clean sheets, this - again - is not that surprising.

Left Back

Staff pick: Christian Günter - Freiburg
Fan Pick: Borna Sosa - Stuttgart

We had to do a coin flip between Sosa and Günter, so it’s good to see them both on these two lists. Both deserve their spots here.

Central Defensive Midfielder

The most lopsided win for any player in this voting. Neuhaus did a fantastic job this season.

I personally would have loved to see Darida make the cut, but it was a close affair all around.

What a wild season it’s been for Silas. From becoming the Bundesliga Rookie of the Year to getting a season ending injury to revealing his true last name, it’s been a trying season. Hopefully, he comes out storming next year.

Left Midfielder/Winger

Staff pick: Mattheus Cunha - Hertha Berlin
Fan Pick: Vincenzo Grifo - Freiburg

I’m not that surprised that Grifo won, seeing as he was one of the options in the coin toss to decide the staff pick. I’m more surprised by how few votes the staff winner, Mattheus Cunha received.

This was closer than our staff vote, as some of you showed love to Sasa Kalajdzic (and Florian Niederlechner?), but the same result came up here.
