Bizarre contract situation between Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig for Dayot Upamecano has no resolution as of yet

Dayot Upamecano might be staying in Leipzig longer than anyone wants him to.

Last week we learned that Dayot Upamecano would not be immediately available to Bayern Munich because of an odd contract stipulation that could see the Frenchman stuck with RB Leipzig until mid-July.

Over the course of the last week, there has been no movement on the situation and it looks like — as of now — Upamecano’s arrival in Munich will still be delayed per Sport Bild (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia).

The German outlet is reporting that Bayern Munich has yet to contact RB Leipzig about an early release and the 22-year-old will either have to train with RB Leipzig or individually.

The thought of Upamecano training with Die Roten Bullen seems completely absurd, but if Bayern Munich is going to get Upamecano early it is going to have to pay RB Leipzig for the third time this summer — once for manager Julian Nagelsmann and another time for Nagelsmann’s assistant coaches.
