Former Bayern Munich star and current Borussia Dortmund center-back Mats Hummels knows the formula that Germany needs to bring to the pitch against Hungary.
“We want to show the same energy on the pitch. We want to show from the start that we will reach the next round and want to show an even better side to our game,” said Hummels (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia). “The key for us will be controlling the game, make them run a lot, be patient, but not passive. We need to keep creating chances with our possession. We will not underestimate Hungary.”
As for his own personal situation, Hummels said his achy knee has been an issue for quite some time, but he is not concerned about an extended stint on the sidelines.
“It’s been occurring for a long time. But I’m in the best hands,” Hummels said. “There shouldn’t be any major impact. I may just need to rest one or two training sessions.”
