One of the Bayern Munich players earning rave reviews for his playing during the Euro 2020 tournament is France defender Lucas Hernandez.

Hernandez was always known for his hard-nosed defensive style, but has recently drawn rave reviews for how he is contributing offensively for France.

Hernandez’s newfound offensive mindset is not a flash in the pan, however. The 25-year-old credits his time at Bayern Munich for helping make his game more well-rounded.

“At Bayern I have improved a lot with the ball because they are a team that like to have possession,” said Hernández at the press conference before the second group game against Hungary (as captured by Abendzeitung). “With Atlético it was a lot more defensive. That mix made me a better player.”

While Hernandez is being used as a left-back for France, he is expected to slide in to play center-back at Bayern Munich next season. That will surely cut-down on his offensive contribution, but have a versatile weapon like Hernandez available is always nice to have on a roster.
