Justin Che will not join Bayern Munich this summer (FCBayern)
Following a solid loan with Bayern II, officials headed to Texas this week to negotiate the transfer of defender Justin Che. It appears, however, that those talks didn’t go to plan, and Che will remain in Dallas for now.
“Justin Che has played for the FC Bayern U23 team for the last 6 months and did very well,” head of the Bayern campus Jochen Sauer said. “Justin is a talented young player, and we expect him to have a very successful career. He will remain a FC Dallas player in the near term.”
The last sentence stands out in Sauer’s statement — “remain a FC Dallas player in the near term”. Che is returning to a Dallas squad right now who are suffering a lot of injuries in defense, so it’s very likely that Che is in line for first team minutes in MLS. Also, with United States head coach Gregg Berhalter set to call-in different players for this summer’s CONCACAF Gold Cup than played in the recent CONCACAF Nations League Final, it’s possible that Che finds himself playing there as well.
Don’t be surprised if Bayern make a push for Che this winter.
Bayern II schedule preseason friendlies (FCBayern)
In preparation for their season back in the Regionalliga, Bayern II have scheduled two friendlies. On Saturday, the young Bavarians will face VfR Garching. Then, next week, Bayern II will travel to Memmingen for a week-long training camp. The camp will feature a friendly against Swiss first division club St. Gallen.
The Regionalliga season will start the weekend of July 15, so it’s a very quick turnaround for Bayern II this summer following their relegation from the 3.Liga.
Alexander Moj, Halil Altintop officially take over U-17s (FCBayern)
In a move that was announced back in April, Alexander Moj and Halil Altintop have officially taken charge of Bayern’s U-17 team. They’re moving up from the club’s U-16 team, and luckily for them, most of that team is moving up to the U-17s with them. Nineteen kids from the U-16 team are making the transition up to the U-17, and they started their first training session on monday.
Former Bundesliga goalkeeper Simon Jentzsch will be the team’s goalkeeping coach for the upcoming season, moving up from the U-16s as well.
The club continues to finalize preseason plans. So far, a match against Hoffenheim has been scheduled along with a tournament in Budapest from July 25-31.
Buchmann, Ibrahimovic, Wanner promoted up to U-19s (Spox)
Heading into the upcoming season, Bayern are reportedly moving three talented youth players up to the U-19 team before the upcoming season. Those players are Tarek Buchmann, Arijon Ibrahimovic, and Paul Wanner.
The three players were moved up to the U-17s last season, and even without the 2020/21 season due to COVID, the trio are deemed talented enough to move right up to the U-19 for the upcoming season. Buchman is only 16 years old, while Ibrahimovic and Wanner are even younger at only 15 years old.
The U-19s will begin training on June 21, so it’s likely that we’ll get confirmation about the promotions at that time.
