This game seemed to encapsulate everything that’s been wrong with the German national team over the last three years. At the home of Bayern Munich, the “Fußball-Arena München” Germany had a great defensive effort met with a tame midfield and a sputtering attack that generated few good opportunities despite being handed many second chances.

Whether it was Antonio Rüdiger trying to bite Paul Pogba, missed chances from Leroy Sané and Serge Gnabry, or Joachim Löw’s poor man and in-game management, Germany did not perform well and now seem destined to crash out of the group stages once again.
