Report: Leon Goretzka close to contract extension with Bayern Munich

Leon Goretzka is one of the world’s best box-to-box midfielders. His work rate, physicality, athleticism, ball intelligence and pressing ability are all off the charts. Bayern Munich’s resident Hulk has established an incredible partnership with teammate Joshua Kimmich, forming arguably the world’s best midfield with Thomas Müller completing the midfield three.

Bayern have already shown their long term commitment to the player by giving him the prestigious #8 jersey, passed down from a long lineage of top midfielders. There isn’t a top club in the world not interested in the player, so Bayern Munich understandably want to get the contract extension out of the way as soon as possible.

There were already reports that the player and the club will only reach an agreement after the commencement of the tournament, and now it seems like talks are underway between the club and Goretzka’s representatives, with the two parties working on getting a deal completed. According to SkySport journalist Fabrizio Romano, the club is confident that a deal will be signed soon, which is wonderful news.

If completed soon, this deal would mark the tying down of a player who is widely considered one of Germany’s and Bayern’s future leaders. He will undoubtedly be a part of a core group of players the club will look to structure their team around.
