At least one expert is not worried about Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich being less impactful as a right-back than he would be in the central midfield.
And this expert would know a little something about how a player can impose his will on a game: None other than Bayern Munich and Germany legend Bastian Schweinsteiger is confident that Kimmich will still be able to assert himself from the right flank.
“He’s unlucky enough to be world class in both positions. If we had a right-back like Dani Alves, he wouldn’t be playing there,” Schweinsteiger said (as captured in a tweet by Abendzeitung journalist Maximilian Koch). “But you can also lead the game from the right side.”
Hopefully this will help alleviate any concern that Kimmich had over the move. We already know he was a bit antsy about losing so much control of the game by moving, but Schweinsteiger isn’t referred to as Der Fussballgott for nothing.
