According to Sport Bild, Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich was not exactly thrilled with having to move to right-back for the European Championships, but was willing to do whatever manager Joachim Löw thinks is best for the squad.

While Kimmich made the move, he does not appear to be 100% certain that things will actually work out because the 26-year-old will reportedly ask for Löw to rethink his plan if Germany falls to 2018 World Cup champion France.

Kimmich, of course, wants to play as a central midfielder because he would be on the ball more and help dictate the tempo of games. The middle of the park, however, is where Germany has its most depth with Toni Kroos, İlkay Gündoğan, Leon Goretzka, and Florian Neuhaus, so using Kimmich to bolster another area of the formation is just smart tactics with the hope of getting the team’s top XI all on the pitch together.

Kimmich reportedly also knows that when Hansi Fick takes the reins later this summer, he can return to the central midfield without any issues.
