Bayern Munich does not have a lot of cash to spend in the summer transfer market, but still would like to get a few key positions filled.
According to a report from kicker (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich has two positions targeted — both of which we had previously heard about:
- Right-back
- Wing
In addition to those spots, the Bavarians could also be looking for another central midfielder — if Corentin Tolisso moves on. Tolisso, who is unexpectedly contending for a starting role with France at the European Championships, could gain suitors during the tournament if he performs well. If that happens — and those suitors are willing to pay what Bayern Munich wants — the Bundesliga champions could imagine selling the 26-year-old.
As for right-back, Bayern Munich was very loosely linked to Achraf Hakimi, but does not have anywhere near the amount of cash needed to procure the Inter Milan player, who is being heavily pursued by both Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.
Interestingly, Chelsea could play a role in how Bayern Munich fills its need at wing per another report from kicker:
Bayern have tried several times to break Callum Hudson-Odoi (20) away from Chelsea. The blues had always got in the way. That could change this summer if the Champions League winner succeeds in signing Achraf Hakimi from Inter Milan (see previous entry). On the right side in Thomas Tuchel’s 3-4-2-1 system there would probably no longer be any space for the home grown Hudson-Odoi.
Another player who has been linked to Bayern Munich is Inter MIlan’s Ivan Perisic. While no formal contact has been made between the club and Perisic, he was an extremely popular player in the locker room and with the front office during his previous stint in Bavaria and could be a low-cost, experience alternative to Hudson-Odoi.
A younger option could be Werder Bremen’s Milot Rashica as well. With Werder Bremen relegated, Rashica’s price tag could lower enough for Bayern Munich to think about making a move for the 24-year-old.
