Bayern Munich Alumni: FC Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho back to Liverpool in exchange for debt relief?

Even for the Spanish media, this sounds far-fetched.

How much is former Bayern Munich midfielder Philippe Coutinho worth to Liverpool these days? Coming off a relatively serious injury, what value would Liverpool place on the talented Brazilian?

About €50 million — at least that is what one wild theory emanating from Spain is hoping.

Spanish outlet AS has a crazy report that would see Liverpool absolve FC Barcelona of its remaining debt (about €50 million) — if the La Liga power sent Coutinho back to England:

Phillppe Coutinho was coming back to his old form when an injury, always inopportune, left him out of the team. His quality is beyond any doubt, but a permanent stay at Barça seems impossible since Barça still owes several amortization payments from his signing to Liverpool. Barca has proposed the return of Coutinho to the English club, so it would not have to pay Liverpool the 50 million euros owed to Liverpool from the transfer.

Would Liverpool actually take Coutinho back and absolve FC Barcelona of its remaining debt?

That seems....highly unlikely.
