Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer had quite an eventful day as his squad downed Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday.
Not only did the veteran goalkeeper pick up a record-tying clean sheet, but he ended the day helping his club win a ninth consecutive Bundesliga title.
For Neuer, that never gets old.
“It’s always a special feeling. It just tingles in the body, the emotions naturally play a role,” said Neuer (as captured by Tz). “I can clearly remember my first championship. It is also a satisfaction for us. Nine years in a row — that is a special achievement.”
Of course, the Bavarians had technically already won the title before the opening tap, but that did not deter Bayern Munich from wanting to go out and put forth a thoroughly dominant effort.
“It was of course a bizarre situation for us. Of course we wanted to show who the German champion is and make another statement,” said Neuer.
