Following Saturday’s 6-0 thrashing of Borussia Mönchengladbach, Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer pulled himself level with the legendary Oliver Kahn for the most clean sheets in the history of the Bundesliga. Neuer, long-considered the best goalkeeper in the world, is one clean sheet away from cementing his legacy as the Bundesliga’s greatest.

Neuer reached the 204 mark in just 437 games (46.8%), while it took Der Titan 557 games (36.6%). He also picked up his 291 Bundesliga win, pulling him level with Manfred Kaltz for the second most wins in league history. Who’s number one? With 310 wins, who do you think?

Even with several years likely remaining in his career, it’s time to start thinking of Neuer in the pantheon of not just the greatest goalkeeper in the game today but as the greatest goalkeeper in the history of the game.

Bayern have matches against Freiburg and Augsburg remaining on the schedule for the 2020/2021 season. If Neuer picks up a clean sheet in either one of those, he will be immortalized in Bundesliga history.
