According to a report from SPOX and Goal journalist Kerry Hau, Bayern Munich did, indeed, make an offer to Real Madrid free agent Lucas Vazquez, but the annual salary did not meet the demands of the 29-year-old:
However, there were only one player recently: Lucas Vazquez (29). According to information from SPOX and Goal, the Munich-based company held talks with Vazquez’s management in April, but only offered six instead of the eight million euros the Spaniards demanded.
Vazquez is now expected to extend his contract in Madrid, which expires on June 30th. In any case, a transfer to Munich without a transfer is off the table.
While most of Hau’s piece centered on the reports linking Achraf Hakimi to Bayern Munich, it did shed light on the rumor regarding Vazquez. Given his ability to play on the outside flank as a wing or outside-back, it is easy to see why Vazquez might hold some value to a club like Bayern Munich.
At €8 million per year, though, it is also very easy to see why a fiscally-conservative club — with many upcoming contract extensions for young and better players on the horizon — would pass on Vazquez’s demands.
