Report: Julian Nagelsmann expected to get backing for transfer requests at Bayern Munich

Transfer requests are great, but without money to make the deals happen Julian Nagelsmann might not get what he wants this summer at Bayern Munich.

On Tuesday, we saw the reports come in that Julian Nagelsmann was starting to assert himself with transfer requests to Bayern Munich.

Specifically, Nagelsmann wants to improve the club’s defensive depth, among other areas.

In addition, over the course of the past two weeks, seen we’ve speculation from various media outlets that Nagelsmann could potentially want to bring in players like Liverpool’s Georginio Wijnaldum, Chelsea’s Timo Werner, Inter Milan’s Achraf Hakimi, and RB Leipzig’s Nordi Mukiele.

According to Sport Bild (as captured Twitter account @iMiaSanMia), Nagelsmann is expected to get backing from Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan “Brazzo” Salihamidzic with his transfer requests. This exact situation is rumored to be the root cause of what eventually led to Hansi Flick’s resignation — as Flick allegedly was not happy with the amount of sway he had in transfer requests and squad planning:

It should be noted, however, that this report is all well and good, but realistically Bayern Munich is not expected to make a big splash in the transfer market after doling out upwards of €60 to €65 million for Nagelsmann and Dayot Upamecano.

How much input Nagelsmann actually has might be better tested in the summer of 2022, when Bayern Munich is expected to be in a better state financially.
