RB Leipzig center-back Dayot Upamecano will move to Bayern Munich this summer, but had the chance to make the leap to Bavaria earlier in his career.
His mother, however, was a bit worried that a move to Bayern Munich at 16-years-old might be too much, too soon for her son.

“I wanted to take the shortest route to the top, but my mother said: ‘No, get some experience first, then you can still do the big thing’,” said Upamecano to kicker (as captured by Abenzeitung). “It was difficult to accept that at the time, but in retrospect I agree with her completely. My path so far has been the right one. I believe that it has paid off to be in Liefering, Salzburg and Leipzig made my experiences and gradually asserted myself at an ever higher level.”
Surely, Upamecano’s mother had the right idea because her son’s development has been steady throughout his career.
Remember that kids...sometimes your parents are actually right.
