German outlet speculates about a Werner to Bayern move? (Tz)

Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick famously wanted to bring in Timo Werner last summer before the 25-year-old signed with Chelsea, but now Tz is speculating that Julian Nagelsmann would consider making a play for the former RB Leipzig star.

Before we dive in too deep, let’s just reiterate that this is pure speculation by Tz. Here is the rational behind the speculation:

Nagelsmann used to be very good with Werner — and vice versa. Even more: when Werner last summer no longer wanted to finish the Champions League for the Saxons and instead went to Chelsea earlier, his coach at the time demonstratively defended him.

“He’s a great sportsman,” Nagelsmann declared in mid-June 2020: “I would have liked to have him there, but I can also understand Timo’s side. The change ends a great period of his life and at the same time opens a new one.”

He said it was “his right” not to finish the season for RBL and instead settle into a new country with a new language and a new environment. With (Thomas) Tuchel, on the other hand, there have been recent discussions, even on the pitch. Is there an opportunity to return to the former mentor?

In any case, it will be exciting in the coming weeks as Nagelsmann explores possible reinforcements for the record champion.

Meanwhile, Sky is reporting that Tuchel would like to strengthen his squad’s forward group, but is also supporting Werner to get back on track:

Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel says he would love to strengthen his forward line in the summer, but has also backed Timo Werner to find form.

What we know is this:

  1. Nagelsmann likes Werner.
  2. Sporting director Hasan “Brazzo” Salihamidzic (allegedly) does not like Werner.
  3. If Nagelsmann implements his standard formation, Werner’s value to Bayern Munich is enhanced.
  4. Chelsea would likely want too much of a transfer fee during a period where the Bavarians do not want to spend.

If — and this is a huge if considering Tz is just speculating — Nagelsmann wants Werner, he would likely have to wait until 2022 and give the roster a year to shake out under the new boss.

Bayern scoping Aston Villa youngster (Football Insider)

Bayern Munich is allegedly keeping an eye on Aston Villa midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka:

Bayern Munich are in pole position to sign Aston Villa sensation Carney Chukwuemeka this summer, Football Insider understands. The 17-year-old midfielder’s Villa future is in major doubt despite Dean Smith claiming the club have a clear plan for his development into a first-team star. A Villa source has told Football Insider that Chukwuemeka is being chased by multiple elite clubs including Bayern, Liverpool and Man City.

Here is a video for anyone not familiar with Chukwuemeka:

Leipzig ready to negotiate with key trio (@RaeComm)

Despite a denial from Nagelsmann, it has been rumored that several RB Leipzig players could potentially follow their manager to Bayern Munich. To try and prevent that from potentially happening, however, RB Leipzig is looking to get new deals done for key players like Marcel Sabitzer, Emil Forsberg, and Marcel Halstenberg:

Here is a video of former Bayern Munich player Arturo Vidal celebrating Inter Milan’s Serie A title. The true star of this video is the legend with the beard, though:

The other key part is how quickly the dog hauls out when the champagne pops.

Either way, this is a cool video.

Wirtz signs extension on birthday (@bayer04_en)

Bayer Leverkusen phenom Florian Wirtz signed a contract extension through the 2025/2026 season on his 18th birthday (Monday):

Wirtz is certainly one Germany’s most promising young players and should be a good foil for Bayern Munich for years to come.
