Bayern Munich captain Manuel Neuer will be able to work with Hansi Flick once more when the 56-year-old officially takes the helm of Germany after this summer’s European Championships.
Still, Neuer appreciated Flick’s tenure at Bayern Munich and knows the manager played a huge role in pushing this squad “over the top” over the past two seasons.
“We’ve worked together since 2009 and we stayed in contact even when he finished with the national team and before he started at Bayern. We’ve had some very successful times. I’ll look back on my work and my relationship with him with pleasure in the future,” Neuer said to the club website. “As a captain and as a person, I’m grateful to him for what he did for me personally, for FC Bayern and the national team,”
Now, Neuer will be able to create another chapter with Flick. Surely, if the manager can somehow will Germany to a World Cup in 2022, his legacy will be cemented in footballing lore forever.
