The Bayern Munich Frauen were ousted by Chelsea by the UEFA Women’s Champions League, but the sting of that loss was not enough to stop the club’s brass from appreciating the squad’s accomplishments.
“I’d like to congratulate our women’s team led by coach Jens Scheuer and the sporting management of Karin Danner and Bianca Rech for their great Champions League season and the big battle in the semi-final against Chelsea,” said Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer (as captured by FCBayern.com). “Reaching the top four in Europe is a great success and we are also having an outstanding season in the Bundesliga as league leaders. Our aim with our women players is to be at the top in Europe and the number one in Germany. We are taking big strides towards that target. This team will continue to entertain and, like our men’s teams and the FC Bayern basketball team, will be an important showpiece of our club. FC Bayern also have women power.”

Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge was also proud of the Frauen’s tremendous overall showing in the Champions League.
“FC Bayern are very proud of our women’s football team after their great performance in the semi-finals of the Champions League. We are convinced that this team will continue their great progress over recent years and firmly establish themselves in top European football,” said Rummenigge. “Reaching the semi-finals was a great achievement, which we have only managed twice – and we are all convinced that we will continue to have a great track record. Now we have to focus on our big target, the championship title.”
The Frauen are 28-0-2 across all competitions this season.
