Bayern Munich midfielder Corentin Tolisso suffered through an injury-plagued club season, but is eager to put that behind him and focus on the European Championships.

Part of France’s powerhouse squad, Tolisso likes his squad’s chances — partly because of return of Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema to the squad.

“Everyone wants to play with the best. Today, Benzema is the best striker in the world alongside Robert Lewandowski,” said Tolisso to L’Equipe (as captured by Twotter account @iMiaSanMia). “His comeback will give us a big addition. He can combine well with our other forwards.”

It’s true...the thought of Benzema working with Kylian Mbappe, Antoine Griezmann, Kingsley Coman, Ousmane Dembele, and others does could out a scare in many defense. Tolisso, though, had a bit of a scare of his own as it relates to his selection to the French national team.

For the roster announcement, the producers of the Amazon documentary being filmed on Bayern Munich asked the team’s French contingent to watch live...which could have resulted in a massive disappointment for Tolisso if he was not chosen by Dider Deschamps.

“We were in a quarantine camp with Bayern. I was going to watch it alone,” Tolisso said. “But there was an Amazon documentary about Bayern, they asked us to watch the announcement together, the French players with Javi Martínez. I did and was nervous.”

Tolisso obviously received good news, which he greatly needed after a frustrating season.
