The long-rumored transfer of Reading FC’s Omar Richards to Bayern Munich finally
“To have the opportunity to play for one of the best teams in the world, it was a dream for me. As soon as I was speaking to the staff at Bayern and the plan they have for me, I knew this is the place where I can develop & bring my game to the next level,” said Richards to FC Bayern TV (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia).
Richards, who is expected to back-up Alphonso Davies at left-back, was asked what his strong foot was and admitted that he is better with his left.
“One day I’d definitely like to be able to say that I’m both footed. I’m always working on my weaker foot but I’m left footed,” Richards said.
As for what players he has tried to emulate, Richards provided a few interesting names.
“My favorite player to watch when I was growing up would definitely be Ronaldinho. But now I’m trying to study players like Ashley Cole, Marcelo and players in my position so I can learn from them,” said Richards.
The interesting part of the Richards signing is how he will be used. Davies will not sit many games and barring and injury or a shift up to left-wing for either player, Richards could have some trouble getting on the pitch.
