Bayern Munich have confirmed the signing of Reading FC defender Omar Richards. The 23-year-old left-back has joined the German champions on a free transfer, having signed a 4-year contract that runs until 2025.
Richards was a regular face in the starting XI for the Championship side last season – featuring in 41 of the total 46 league games. He said, “My move to FC Bayern is a great honor for me. A dream come true. I’m proud to be wearing the shirt of one of the world’s biggest clubs. I hope I can help the team continue to be successful in the future. My thanks to the management at FC Bayern for their trust. Our conversations were very convincing. I can’t wait to be on the pitch for FC Bayern. Mia San Mia!”

Club’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić commented on the new signing: “We’re delighted Omar is coming to FC Bayern. Omar is a technically gifted player on the left side of the defence. He finds good solutions going forward, he’s very alert and we trust him to play a good role in our team.”
Richards will take the number 3 shirt at the club.
