In a recent interview with Sport 1 (as captured by Sport Bild), Bayern Munich legend Sepp Maier detailed why he thinks there could be some rough patches ahead for the Bavarians as they work to integrate a new coaching staff into the everyday environment at Säbener Straße.
“I don’t know whether you will be so happy with Julian Nagelsmann. I am very skeptical. He has not yet achieved any success,” said Maier in assessing Nagelsmann’s track record. “Almost every coach at FC Bayern has had successes and won titles before.”

One move that left Maier feeling especially unsettled was assistant coach Hermann Gerland announcing that he would leave the club.
“What Hermann Gerland did was awesome. He did everything he could for FC Bayern with what was in his power,” Maier said. “He promoted the next generation and did his best with the professionals for years. So many new careers have been created in the club, but it is incomprehensible that they could not find a position for such a man.”
