After Joachim Löw confirmed Germany’s 26-man squad that he called up for UEFA’s European Championships, some people wondered how all of the new — and returning — faces might affect the team’s jersey numbers.
As expected, there are some slight changes in roster numbering for Germany. The most noticeable is Thomas Müller’s number change. Müller held number 13 for a long time, but now, as he returns from an almost two-year break, he took number 25, which is his usual number in Bayern Munich jersey. Jonas Hofmann has Müller’s old jersey number:

Another interesting observation is that Mats Hummels, who also returns to the national team, took his old jersey number, and Jamal Musiala, who is making his first appearance for Germany in such a big tournament, took the number 14.
There were no other significant changes in jersey numbers, but it still is interesting why Müller chose a different number from what he used to play — is it a mark to a new beginning?
