Julian Green scored the goal in the 69th minute that sent Greuther Fürth back up in the Bundesliga for only the second time in the history of the club. At the time, Green’s goal only earned Fürth a draw, but that’s all they needed to win promotion. They would, however, win the game against Fortuna Düsseldorf.
Green picked up 10 goals in 33 games in all competitions for Fürth this season, 31 of them starts. Timothy Tillman, who left Bayern Munich for Fürth in the summer of 2019, played in 27 matches this season, the majority of them off of the bench.
When Green first joined Fürth from Bayern four years ago, it was his goal on the final matchday that kept them in the 2.Bundesliga in 15th place. Today, it’s his goal that earns them promotion into the Bundesliga!

Fürth earned this promotion with the youngest squad in all of the 2.Bundesliga, and the cheapest one at that at only €8.5 million.
Dickson Abiama scored the winning goal in the match today, his 7th of the season. His story is remarkable. Three years ago, the 23 year old was playing in the district leagues in Bavaria around Fürth. The Fürth staff signed him almost immediately after he scored in a friendly against them in 2020.
It’s incredible for the club, but they’ll hope their second Bundesliga trip is better than their first when they were relegated after only one season.
