Bayern Munich used a second half surge to run past Bayer Leverkusen to the tune of a 4-0 scoreline on Sunday. The victory means that Bayern hold the fate of the Frauen Bundesliga in their own hands heading into the final matchday.
Lea Schüller continued her excellent season with a brace, scoring in each half to lead to the way for Bayern. Marina Hegering and Viviane Asseyi scored goals for Bayern in the second half to help seal the victory.
“It’s a last step, but it’s a giant step,” said captain Hegering. “It will certainly not be easy. Now it’s all or nothing on the last day of the match.”

Wolfsburg were also victorious this weekend, which means that heading into the final matchday, Bayern are sitting on 58 points while Wolfsburg have 56 points. Everything will come down to the final game.
The women will take a two week break due to next weekend’s DFB Pokal Frauen Final between Eintracht Frankfurt and Wolfsburg. Then, on Sunday June 6, Bayern will host Frankfurt at the Bayern Campus for the final match of the 2020/21 season.
