Former Bayern Munich manager Niko Kovac did not see his tenure with the Bavarians end in a pleasant way, but the 49-year-old picked himself up, took the job at AS Monaco, and now has the club back in the Champions League.
For Kovac, this has been quite a journey, but one that must feel totally fulfilling at this moment. On the season, Kovac’s squad finished in third pace of Ligue 1, which will put his club in the Champions League qualifying round.
There is no doubt that Kovac has made a huge impact on AS Monaco:

Here is a nice video of the squad’s celebration. Kovac enters the fray at the 35 second mark or so:

Truth be told...if you offered me this video or the footage of Kovac doing karaoke of Nena’s “99 Luftballoons” from Bayern Munich’s team party in 2019, I’d go with “99 Luftballoons” every...single...time. Still, this was pretty cool to see for a guy who is a good coach, but just was not the right coach for the moment when he was with Bayern Munich.
