It was always going to be a difficult campaign for Bayern Munich II, but Saturday’s 0-1 loss to Hallescher FC officially means that the Bayern reserves will be playing back down in the Regionalliga next season. It was, at this point, an expected outcome, but it’s still not fun.
“The boys will grow from it,” coach Danny Schwarz said. “We have really good guys here, they are 17 or 18 years old and have a career ahead of them.”
It started poorly for Bayern II right out of the gate with Braydon Manu scoring in just the first minute. Due to other results, a win today wouldn’t have saved Bayern II, but they young Bavarians were never able to find a goal today, and suffered the 0-1 defeat.

“Our goal is to get out of the league and come back to the third division, Campus Director Jochen Sauer said. “For this we will try to put together a good quality team.”
Prior to the match, Bayern II revealed that six players had played their last game for the club. Angelo Stiller, Angelo Mayer, Kilian Senkbeil, Michael Wagner, Daniels Ontužāns and Alexander Lungwitz will all be leaving the club this summer. Stiller will be joining Hoffenheim, and Wagner is leaving for Türkgücü München. Lungwitz will be returning to Greuther Fürth with his loan expiring.
In the coming weeks, we’ll look back at the season and look at what went wrong and what Bayern II can look forward to next season.
