Bayern Munich officially said goodbye to both Douglas Costa and Tiago Dantas, as both players will return to their parent clubs.

For Costa, however, that stop back at Juventus might be to just gather his belongings as he is already reportedly back in Brazil preparing to play for Gremio. Dantas, meanwhile, will head back to Benfica, where he will continue his quest to make the club’s first-team:

Douglas Costa and Tiago Dantas are leaving FC Bayern. The German champions and Costa agreed to terminate his contract ahead of its original expiry date, and they also came to an agreement with Dantas that his loan agreement with Lisbon outfit Benfica will not be extended.

Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan “Brazzo” Salihamidžić thanked the players for their contributions.

“Douglas Costa and Tiago Dantas have won the German championship with us this season,” said Salihamidžić. “We would like to express our sincere thanks to both of them and wish them all the best for the future.”

Costa’s return to Bayern Munich was largely uneventful as it was marred by injuries and inconsistency. As for Dantas, the slight youngster was never able to find his breakthrough moment in Bavaria.
