Bayern Munich star Thomas Müller was formally recalled to the German national team by Joachim Löw earlier today and was thrilled to be back with Die Mannschaft for this summer’s European Championships.
“I am delighted to be part of the national team again. During the pleasant and open telephone conversations we had with Joachim Löw in the run-up to the nomination, we discussed what we both expect from each other in the coming weeks,” Müller told FCBayern.com. “The sporting challenge of once again representing the German colors at a tournament together with the boys — and the associated chance to win the European Championship title — really excite me.”
Müller joins seven Bayern Munich teammates in being part of the squad (Manuel Neuer, Niklas Süle, Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka Jamal Musiala, Serge Gnabry, Leroy Sane). In addition, Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels will also be part of the roster — after being unceremoniously axed with Müller and Jerome Boateng back in 2019.
