Here we go again...Bild has a report implying Niklas Süle is out of shape.

According to Bild, Bayern Munich center-back Niklas Süle “has some catching up to do.”

While Süle turned in a solid effort against SC Freiburg, Bild is back up to its old tricks of insinuating that the big fella is turning back into the “really big fella.”

Apparently — per Bild — Süle is now going full-Gareth Bale and ditching work for golf, while also struggling with his cardio:

Bayern star Niklas Süle (25) was left behind by his teammates in the sprints on Tuesday morning and was by far in last!

“Vamos Niki” (“Come on Niki”) echoed across the square.

Of course, Bild would love it, if I attached the caveat in of “big, if true” to this story, but I digress.

Regardless, Bild had Süle as one of Bayern Munich’s lowest rated players against SC Freiburg, but did at least point out that the German international was coming off of an injury:

At the comeback after a four-week break (torn muscle fiber) in Freiburg (2-2), the defender was one of the weakest (BILD rating 5). Now he has to get fit quickly for the EM.

It is understandable that Süle lacks the fitness after his injury. Nevertheless, the national player doesn’t seem particularly motivated to get in top form! An example: on Monday the DFB stars Joshua Kimmich and Serge Gnabry put in an extra shift. Süle, on the other hand, preferred a relaxed round of golf with Müller ...

BFW Analysis

If you’ve heard one story by Bild implying Süle is out of shape, you’ve hard them all.

A couple of quick points:

1. Süle is coming off of an injury and despite how Bild rated him, the defender was solid against Freiburg.

2. Because Süle is still likely not operating at full capacity, it is no shock that his fitness might not be at 100%.

3. This report would have only been better if Bild said Müller and Süle we’re cracking beers and eating hot dogs while golfing on Monday.

4. If Süle wanted to gold on his day off...who really cares?

Carry on...we will not chonk-ify this story.
