Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick was thrilled to see Robert Lewandowski match Gerd Müller’s Bundesliga goal scoring record.
While recognizing Lewandowski individual brilliance, Flick noted that the Polish Hitman needed the support of his teammates to be able to himself within Müller’s stratosphere.
“Robert had his most successful season last year — he won the triple with the team and became a world footballer. Now he has tied Gerd Müller’s historic record, but that is always a performance of the team,” Flick said (as captured by Tz). “In the last few years you would never have believed that the record would fall. But a lot is possible in football. Right now Robert is the best striker in the world. We’ll have to wait and see what comes next. The competition will decide how long he will have his record.”
Lewandowski will have one more chance to break Müller’s record and there is little doubt that the Poland international will be looking for even more help from his friends to do so.
