While things didn’t turn out great during his time at Bayern Munich despite winning a domestic double, Niko Kovac has spent this season at AS Monaco reminding everyone that he does, in fact, know exactly what he’s doing.

Following a 5-1 victory over fourth division side GFA Rumilly-Vallières in the Semifinals of the Coupe de France, Kovac and Monaco will face Paris Saint-Germain who slipped past Montpellier on penalties. This will be the third time the two teams have faced each other this season, with Monaco winning both of the previous meetings.

As for Ligue 1, Kovac has Monaco right in the thick of things here at the end of the season. With two matches remaining in the season, Lille lead the league with 79 points while PSG have 76 points. Monaco are in third place with 74 points, and Lyon are right behind them on 73 points.

In France, the top three clubs qualify for the Champions League.

Kovac’s work this season has been impressive. After winning Ligue 1 in 2016/17 and a second place finish in in 2017/18, Monaco plummeted to 17th in 2018/19 and only finished in 9th place during the 2019/20 season. With two matches remaining in the current season, Monaco is likely to finish anywhere from second to fourth place.

We’re rooting for you, Niko.
