7 Bayern Munich players named to FIFA’s Team of the Season, but Erling Haaland awarded Player of the Season

The FIFA Team of the Season was released for the Bundesliga and Bayern Munich was well-represented with seven selections.

• Alphonso Davies, Bayern Munich — LB
• Angelino, RB Leipzig — LWB
• Ridle Baku, Wolfsburg — RB
• Joshua Kimmich, Bayern Munich — CDM
• Leon Goretzka, Bayern Munich — CDM
• Thomas Müller, Bayern Munich — CAM
• Jadon Sancho, Borussia Dortmund — RM
• Marcel Sabitzer, RB Leipzig — CDM
• Kingsley Coman, Bayern Munich — LM
• Robert Lewandowski, Bayern Munich — ST
• Erling Haaland, Borussia Dortmund — ST
• Andre Silva, Eintracht Frankfurt — ST

Haaland was named “Player of the Season”, which is great, except Lewandowski was better this season. I suppose there are several arguments that could be made, but the list does include some controversial selections.

Some might say that VfB Stuttgart’s Borna Sosa was better than Alphonso Davies this season, but that is a debate could be had in the comments.
